Wet or Spongy Drain Field

Common Causes

2Tank Overdue for Pumping

When a tank goes too long without pumping, the sludge layer rises high enough to push partially treated solids into the drain field. Solids clog the soil interface far more rapidly than liquid effluent, accelerating biomat formation and causing premature field saturation.

An extra-large load of laundry, a houseful of guests, or a leaking toilet can send significantly more water than normal into the system.
